One of the most important lesson I learnt from Dr. Jeffrey Lant's promotion email is how to get your customers' ass out of the chair:

1. Use exagerated language to begin to catch attention. His email title is: "Warning: you are not using the Internet to your maximum advantage. Change that today!". "Warning", what a word!

2. Point out the potential customers' pain in ass. And tell them that you have the cure for that pain.

3. From specific to general.
